Let’s find your tree.
Start with the address. Our own crews in Memphis and St. Louis handle the rest: tree health care, pruning, removal and stump grinding.

Choose the help your tree gets.
We start with the lightest help that works. Try each one to see what our own crews would do for this oak.
Check
One of our arborists walks the tree with you and looks at three things: the root flare at the soil line, the trunk and its fork, and the crown. Then you get your options in plain words, lightest first.

- Once, or yearly

Care
Care is a yearly program for the soil your tree’s roots live in, which reaches well past the edge of the crown. We keep the root flare clear, mulch wide and flat, water through dry spells, and test the soil before adding anything. Each visit ends with a written note on what we found.

- Every year
Mulch goes 2 to 4 inches deep and never touches the trunk.

Prune
We cut the limb over your roof back to a side branch that can take over, so there’s no stub and the tree keeps its shape. We never top a tree, and never take more than it can spare in a season.

- Stays
- How often
- Every few years
In St. Louis we prune oaks in winter, outside oak wilt season.

Support
Where two big stems meet in a narrow fork, a steel cable set high between them adds support, so the tree can keep both. We check the hardware on each visit.

Remove
When a tree can’t reasonably stay, we take it down in sections, planned around your roof, fence and garden. It’s the last option we reach for, not the first.

Replant
We grind the stump below the soil line and plant a young tree where it has room to grow, then look after it through its first summers.

What will it cost? Size it up in your own words.
Price comes down to things you can see from the yard. Describe your tree with your house, a school bus and your own two arms, and we’ll show you what moves the price.
Compare the stump from safe ground.
Stay on level ground beside the stump. Compare its width with heel-to-toe shoe lengths on clear ground nearby. Do not stand on or cross the stump. Tell us about roots and nearby obstacles so we can discuss the scope.
- More than 4 steps? We’ll quote it after a look. Very large stumps vary too much to guess.
- Several stumps?Tell us how many stumps there are so the scope can include them.
- Rocks, fences or concrete close by?The grinder needs a little room on every side. Tell us what’s near it.
With pruning, it’s about the cuts.
Three things set the price: how thick the branches are, how much of the crown needs work, and what’s underneath. Start with the thickest branch you want cut.
- One area, or the whole crown?Work spread through the whole tree means more climbing and repositioning.
- What’s underneath?Branches over a roof or fence are lowered on ropes instead of dropped.
- Front yard or back?A lift can sometimes reach front-yard trees, which saves climbing time.
